The opening to our thriller is based on the seven deadly sins and what they represent.
What are the 7 sins?
The currently recognized version of the sins are usually given as wroth, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. During the thriller we will be using the sins to represent the possession of our main character by something that is unknown. Our main character is a young woman who no longer has a life of her own, she is controlled by something inside her. By committing the seven deadly sins she is slowly losing all self control and members of her family.
The ideas for our opening have come loosely from films such as:
Woman in Black
The Grudge
The Devil inside
All of this films have themes of possession of a person by a supernatural being.

Preliminary Task
We have been currently working on our preliminary task that was set in the brief. We faced some issues when doing so. We filmed the task on an iPhone to give a hand held camera feel, along the lines of the Blair Witch project style, but the software that we are working with (final cut express) doesn't work particularly well with this. We tried rotating each clip, but this made it look pix-elated, not really giving the effect that we were looking for. We are now in the process of re-recording the prelim-task on an actual handheld camera. After re-recording our preliminary task on a HD Sony camera we attempted to import the clips onto the mac computers, which again resulted in problem. The mac computers seemed to not have to sufficient updates to support the HD quality of the clips. After this we used a regular tape in our HD camera, which again did not work! By this time obviously we were getting stressed. We gave our iPhone clips another go, and although they were in portrait and not landscape which could not be helped. We tried to make the clips into landscape but by rotating the clips by 90 degrees made the clips pixalated which obviously did not look good. We finally managed to complete the final rendering and continue with the project!
